The Parish Council are asked to approve or reject planning applications that are submitted for properties within the parish.
The applications that are considered at each monthly Parish Council meeting are listed on the meeting agendas which can be found here.
More details of the applications under consideration may be found on the Public Access area of the Waveney District Council website.
If you wish to comment on any aspect of a planning application, please either use the comment section on Public Access or contact the Parish Clerk in advance of the meeting when the application is to be considered.
However, the best way to be kept informed about planning applications is to have them e-mailed to you. This is a free service provided by Waveney District Council and it only takes a couple of minutes to set up. Just follow the simple instructions below, and you'll be informed whenever new applications are received and can view them in detail and comment if you wish.
Click on the link to Waveney Planning's Public Access page (this will open in another window, so you can do it now and flip between windows to follow the rest of these instructions).
If you are not already registered with Waveney, you'll need to register, so click on the Register button at the top of the page, and enter your details. You'll need to give your name and address, your e-mail address (which will also be your login id) and a password of your choice (which must be a mixture of letters and numbers and at least 8 characters in length).
You will be sent an e-mail, which you respond to by clicking on a link, to confirm that your e-mail address is a valid one. Your account is then ready to use.
Next, click on the Login button at the top of the page and log in using your e-mail address and the password you chose when you registered.
You will be taken to a page with the heading Planning and building control - online public access
From the menu bar at the top, select Search > Planning > Advanced Search
You will be taken to a page with the heading Planning >> Applications Search
- this is where you specify which applications you want to be informed about. Here's what to enter there:
Click the search button at the bottom of the page to run the search for the first time, to check it works.
You will be taken to a page with the heading Planning >> Results for Application Search
Here, you'll see a list of applications received since your start date.
Click the button marked Save Search at the top right of that page.
You'll be taken to a page for Saved Search Options.
- this is where you let them know you want to be informed by e-mail. Here's what to enter there:
You'll be taken to a page with the heading My Profile >> Saved Searches
Here, you'll be shown a list of your saved searches (which will just contain this one, so far). If you want to, you can create and save further searches e.g. for Wangford, Wrentham, Southwold, Blythburgh etc., in the same way.
Otherwise, you're done, so hit the Logout button on the menu bar at the top and then close that window in your browser.
From then on, until the end date you entered, Waveney‘s computer will send you emails to notify you of planning applications they receive. The emails contain links you can click on to view the details of the applications, track their progress and comment on them if you wish.
