Another lively Putting Competition was upon us before we knew it - 12 months since I put " pen to paper" ( is there such a thing nowadays?) to give a brief account of this much anticipated competitive, but fun filled, evening.
As usual there was an excellent turnout and the weather couldn't have been kinder - so no excuses for poor play there then! I must say that this year the 18 holes seem to have been completed in record time and I can't help but think the idea of a chilled glass of wine and excellent meal at Southwold Golf Club may have had something to do with it.
What a really sociable group of Ladies we are, plenty of laughter, plenty of gossip with no-one wanting the evening to finish, before too long scores were tallied and the long awaited moment of truth was announced - this year's worthy winner was Sally Cambridge with an admirable score of 53 and the coveted wooden spoon award went to Carole Andrews with a magnificent score of 84!
Sue Dabbs our Chairman gave a much deserved vote of thanks to Angela Yates our Membership Secretary who had worked tirelessly to ensure the success of our evening - not an easy task I can assure you so once again "Thank You Angela". Unfortunately all good things come to an end and eventually goodbyes were said and we all headed for home.
Just a reminder to all that there is no meeting in August but our next Speaker will be on Tuesday the 18th of September starting at 7.30 at Reydon Village Hall when Celia Graham from the National Trust is giving us a talk on " Life Below Stairs" - definitely not one to miss.
