A message from David Smith.
In 2016 I lost my Mum to Cancer. I am devastated at the loss but determined to channel my sadness into something far more positive. I am also combining this with a personal goal to lose around 4 stone during my training (Mum always liked it when I was thinner!) and at 21.5st - There is no time like the present to commit to a healthier lifestyle!
I've been running The Randolph with Donna for the last 13 years and I have had every excuse NOT to be able to do anything like this before. So as the hotel is now sold, I have no excuses left! and I am self-funding this trip to Vietnam - So every penny I raise will go towards the incredible work of The Art for Cure Charity.
I am raising money for national breast cancer research and supporting breast cancer services in East Anglia through Art for Cure, a Registered Charity - Charity Number 1175161.
Cycling for 9 days, we will cover 450km in 85% humidity and for those that know me, this will be a huge challenge! My new employer (The Hospitality Software Company - Staylists) have also granted me the time off to complete this challenge. So, the training has begun, I'm now two stones lighter and I have Lycra (padded) shorts! I'm sure Mum is laughing her head off up there - and supporting me every step of the way. We leave in Mid November.
I hope to raise about £3000 – I have already raised over £1000 towards my goal, and I am also trying to raise awareness of my Challenge, through Café 51, Harris and James, Barbrooks and Howells and Jolley Chemists.
