Suffolk Libraries Presents:

The Importance of Being Earnest

Wednesday 15th May 2.30pm & 7.30pm Southwold Arts Centre, St Edmunds Hall.  Tickets £10 (£8 for 12s and under)

Suffolk Libraries Presents are amazing performances and cultural events recorded live and screened using top quality projection equipment.

A ‘brilliantly funny’ and ‘charming’ new production of one of the funniest plays in English, Oscar Wilde’s   The Importance of Being Earnest,  filmed live at the Vaudeville Theatre in London’s West End. Wilde’s much-loved masterpiece throws love, logic and language into the air to make one of theatre’s most dazzling firework displays.  Jack, Algy, Gwendolyn and Cecily discover how unsmooth runs the course of true love, while Lady Bracknell keeps a baleful eye on the mayhem of manners.

Michael Fentiman’s ‘absolutely hilarious’ adaptation stars Olivier Award winner Sophie Thompson and Jeremy Swift alongside Fiona Button, Pippa Nixon and Stella Gonet.

Tickets available from Southwold Library, Southwold Arts Centre and via www.ticketsource.co.uk/suffolklibraries

Bite Size Ballets : Elves and the Shoemaker

Wednesday 29th May 10.30am Southwold Arts Centre, St Edmunds Hall

This unique children’s classic story is brought to life in colourful, fun, and engaging ballet performances, curated especially with young families and pre-schoolers in mind.

A hard-working shoemaker struggles to support his family. But when he sees a poor lady in need of help, he gives her his final pair of shoes.  The next morning he awakes to find that his last piece of leather has been transformed into the most magnificent pair of magical shoes. But who has mysteriously made them?

Each story is read for the cinema audience by BBC’s Anita Rani and includes dance move demos by the professional ballet dancers for children to try.  These bite sized ballets provide the perfect way to introduce young children to the artistic beauty of ballet in a comfortable, affordable, local family friendly setting while encouraging a fun trip to the cinema and an engaging interactive experience.

Tickets are £4 per child, accompanying adults free!
