Planning decisions for Reydon are made by East Suffolk Council which is the Local Planning Authority for our area. It determines applications in line with policies in its own plan, the Waveney Local Plan and within Reydon also in line with the policies in the Reydon Neighbourhood Plan which the Parish Council developed in 2021.
Reydon Parish Council is a statutory consultee on planning issues in Reydon. This means that we are able to comment on all applications and any other planning issues which we do each month. We have a Planning Working Group which recommends our comments to the Parish Council. Where we recommend approval, we often do not make any further comments but where we recommend refusal or wish East Suffolk Council to work with the applicant to address concerns, we give our reasons, sometimes in considerable detail.

All planning applications can be found on the East Suffolk website, where anyone can also make their own comments. Here is how to find an application:
More details of the applications under consideration may be found on the Public Access area of the East Suffolk Council website.
If you wish to comment on any aspect of a planning application, please either use the comment section on Public Access or contact the Parish Clerk in advance of the meeting when the application is to be considered.
However, the best way to be kept informed about planning applications is to have them e-mailed to you. This is a free service provided by East Suffolk Council and it only takes a couple of minutes to set up. Just follow the simple instructions below, and you'll be informed whenever new applications are received and can view them in detail and comment if you wish.
Here's how:
Click on the link to the Public Access page (this will open in another window, so you can do it now and flip between windows to follow the rest of these instructions).
If you are not already registered, you'll need to do so by clicking on the Register button at the top of the page, and entering your details. You'll need to give your name and address, your e-mail address (which will also be your login id) and a password of your choice (which must be a mixture of letters and numbers and at least 8 characters in length).
You will be sent an e-mail, which you respond to by clicking on a link, to confirm that your e-mail address is a valid one. Your account is then ready to use.
Next, click on the Login button at the top of the page and log in using your e-mail address and the password you chose when you registered.
You will be taken to a page with the heading Planning and building control - online public access
From the menu bar at the top, select Search > Planning > Advanced Search
You will be taken to a page with the heading Planning >> Applications Search
- this is where you specify which applications you want to be informed about. Here's what to enter there:
- In the Application details section of the page, from the drop-down list for Parish, select Reydon
- In the Dates section of the page, for Date Received, put a long range of dates - e.g. 01/11/2014 to 31/12/2099
- Leave all other boxes as they are.
Click the search button at the bottom of the page to run the search for the first time, to check it works.
You will be taken to a page with the heading Planning >> Results for Application Search
Here, you'll see a list of applications received since your start date.
Click the button marked Save Search at the top right of that page.
You'll be taken to a page for Saved Search Options.
- this is where you let them know you want to be informed by e-mail. Here's what to enter there:
- Choose a suitable title. This will show in the e-mails you are sent, so something like Planning Applications for Reydon is ideal.
- For the option Notify me via email about new search results, choose Yes.
- Click Save at the bottom of the page.
You'll be taken to a page with the heading My Profile >> Saved Searches
Here, you'll be shown a list of your saved searches (which will just contain this one, so far). If you want to, you can create and save further searches e.g. for Wangford, Wrentham, Southwold, Blythburgh etc., in the same way.
Otherwise, you're done, so hit the Logout button on the menu bar at the top and then close that window in your browser.
From then on, until the end date you entered, you will receive emails to notify you of planning applications received. The emails contain links you can click on to view the details of the applications, track their progress and comment on them if you wish.
